BAMBOO PRESERVATION COMPENDIUM

The Bamboo Preservation Compendium is a big step forward in addressing the issues in preserving and protecting Bamboo. Compiled by Prof. Walter Liese and Dr. Satish Kumar, highly experienced professionals in dealing with the protection and preservation of bamboo, this compendium offers a ‘one stop shop’ to get information on ‘how and what’ needs to be done. It outlines safety procedures, storage practices and treatment methods.

BREAKING BARRIERS AND CREATING CAPITAL

In 2003, an action research based development programme using local bamboos to benefit poor rural communities in the Konkan division in Maharashtra State, was set up by INBAR in partnership with CIBART. This Publication describes how the initiatives at the Konkan Action Research Site first seeded and then nurtured growth and how the strategies resulted in quantitatively and qualitatively enhanced rural livelihoods, while addressing local, cross-cutting social and economic challenges.

BAMBOO IN FISHERIES

Proceedings and Papers presented during the International Policy Workshop on Bamboo in Fisheries published to get as much information as possible of bamboo in the fisheries sector. There is a growing awareness that the development, based on bamboo, could be an effective way to improve the livelihood of rural poor and the fisher folk being the traditional users of bamboo through fish traps, fish cages, float traps, baskets, poles, rafts, boats etc. could be adopted as a relevant target population to equip them in the innovative use of bamboo.
