Tool kit Project in Himachal Pradesh
In 2012, CIBART implemented an Improvised Tools Kit project in two districts Sujanpur and Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh. With support from the District Rural Development Agency, Sujanpur, 45 bamboo artisans were provided with improvised tool kits and bamboo furniture making training. With funding support by DWDO, Mid-Himalaya, Hamirpur, 60 artisans were provided with new and improvised tool kit for their daily working in traditional occupation and improving their income.

Mapping and inventory assessment
CIBART conducted a diagnostic study in Mandi district and mapped bamboo resources, skills level of communities in plantation, management and product development for the District Industries Centre, Mandi.

Capacity building and training
The Development Commissioner (DC - Handicrafts), District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Divisional Watershed Development Officer (DWDO), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and the Department of Industry, Himachal Pradesh has supported CIBART in training community members in bamboo crafts, bamboo furniture making and small products making.
In a training cum production activity a bamboo bridge and a bamboo toilet were constructed at Himachal Forest Reseach Institute, Shimla.

Common facility centre
A common facility centre for crafts, furniture making and packaging has been established in Bagthan, Sirmour and trainings have been conducted here. Trainings have also been conducted in Palampur, Kangra, Mandi. Bamboo crates were developed for packaging apple and other horticultural commodities to reduce wood use for packing horticultural produce. Handicraft products were showcased in the Renuka Fair and ODE to Earth exhibition in Delhi where CIBART was received the best display awasrd.
